TOP McCAIN ADVISER CALLS HIS OWN CANDIDATE A BRAINWASHED WHINER

Via Politico, I see that Phil Gramm, John McCain's top economic adviser, has told The Washington Times that tough economic times are all in our heads because we're squishy and brainwashed:

..."You've heard of mental depression; this is a mental recession," he said....

"We have sort of become a nation of whiners," he said. "You just hear this constant whining, complaining about a loss of competitiveness, America in decline" despite a major export boom that is the primary reason that growth continues in the economy, he said....

Mr. Gramm said the constant drubbing of the media on the economy's problems is one reason people have lost confidence....

"Misery sells newspapers," Mr. Gramm said. "Thank God the economy is not as bad as you read in the newspaper every day." ...

The problem is, one of the whiny people who believes the brainwashing is Gramm's own candidate.

On Tuesday, John McCain told MSNBC's Joe Scarborough, "The fact is Americans are hurting, they’re hurting badly."

McCain's latest ad says the economy is "in shambles."

So McCain is weak-spined and susceptible to propaganda. You heard it from his own camp.
