ANTHONY WEINER'S PENIS PICTURES WERE A TOOL OF SHARIA LAW!
(Or something like that.)

My favorite story of the weekend is this, from World Net Daily, which doesn't connect all the dots, but ... well, do we have to draw you a map?

Weiner's mother-in-law a member of Muslim Brotherhood
Tasked with advancing movement that aims to establish Saudi-style regime in U.S.

The mother-in-law of disgraced Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood in Saudi Arabia, according to Arabic news sources cited by a former Palestinian Liberation Organization operative.

Walid Shoebat, an ex-Muslim Brotherhood activist in the Holy Land, translated sources that say Huma Abedin's mother, Saleha Mahmoud Abedin, a professor of sociology in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, belongs to the Sunni movement's women's division known as the Muslim Sisterhood.

One of the Sisterhoods aims, reportedly, is "to spread the Brotherhood's ideology by infiltrating universities, schools and homes." ...

Wow, that seems like, um, a very deep rabbit hole you're leading us down into, World Net Daily. Let's start with the fact that the credibility of Walid Shoebat is so shaky that even Debbie Schlussel thinks he's a fraud, citing this 2008 Jerusalem Post story:

... the San Francisco Chronicle ... described Shoebat as a self-proclaimed "former Islamic terrorist" who said that Islam was a "satanic cult" and who told the crowd how he eventually accepted Jesus into his heart. However, Shoebat's claim to have bombed Bank Leumi in Bethlehem is rejected by members of his family who still live in the area, and Bank Leumi says it has no record of such an attack ever taking place.... And the Walid Shoebat Foundation's working process is less than transparent, with Shoebat's claim that it is registered as a charity in the state of Pennsylvania being denied by the Pennsylvania State Attorney's Office.... A New York Times report last month on [an] Air Force Academy event, headlined "Speakers at Academy Said to Make False Claims," noted that "Academic professors and others who have heard [Shoebat and two other purported ex-terrorists] speak in the United States and Canada said some of their stories border on the fantastic, like Mr. Saleem's account of how, as a child, he infiltrated Israel to plant bombs via a network of tunnels underneath the Golan Heights. No such incidents have been reported, the academic experts said. They also question how three middle-aged men who claim they were recruited as teenagers or younger could have been steeped in the violent religious ideology that only became prevalent in the late 1980s." ...

None of this seems to prevent the semi-kinda-sorta-respectable Pajamas Media from publishing Shoebat's assertion of the claim about Abedin's mother, which (of course) is repeated at Davey Horowitz's Front Page Magazine, as well as at the desperate-to-be-respected American Thinker.

But, um, here's my question: If there were a sinister plan to marry off the daughter of a member of the Muslim Brotherhood to an influential congressman, wouldn't it have been better to pick one who had some allies in at least one of the major U.S. parties? Or one who could keep himself from being forced out of office by self-published penis pictures? If Huma's going to marry a pro-Israel congressman and then pour sinister Muslim juice in his ear at night in order to convert him, shouldn't she and her evil allies be working behind the scenes to ensure that the guy they picked is able to keep his job?

This blogger goes into great detail about how Huma, Huma's mom, and Hillary Clinton (apparently also an agent of evil Saudi jihadist types) presumably plotted together in this case:

... It's about a U.S. Congressman marrying a Muslim agenda. Weiner is Israel's most vocal Democrat supporter in Congress....

Democratic US congressman Anthony Weiner, has made no secret in the past of his right-wing views on Israel, for example endorsing the Zionist Organization of America's opposition to the two-state solution....

His stand on Israel awaited a change orchestrated by Pres. Obama and his loyal Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. Just like Israelis, Americans are mostly incapable of seeing one level below the surface to understand the hatched plot. And the Weiner scandal just screams cynical high-level conspiracy at anyone who cares to listen. Shall we begin with his new wife and mother-in-law?

Was Huma Abedin deputy chief of staff to Hillary Clinton unaware that her mother was reported as a member of the Muslim Brotherhood? Did Western media miss what has been revealed in several Arab newspapers and left secret in American government circles?

But, um, like, what's the point? Without Weiner in office, U.S. policy in the region is suddenly going to tilt pro-Muslim supremacist and anti-Israel? The linchpin of our foreign policy in the region was ... that guy?

This story hasn't migrated yet from the outer fringes of the right to the inner fringes (which are basically the mainstream). So I guess there are still limts to what's acceptable craziness on the right. At least for now. (To the best of my knowledge, Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, and Donald Trump haven't been asked for their thoughts on this.)
