2012: BUSHPOCALYPSE?
Just caught the tail end of David Brooks and E.J. Dionne on NPR and Brooks was speculating (briefly) on the possibility of Jeb Bush getting the GOP presidential nomination. I'm running off and don't have time to do a transcript, but the audio is here. The Jeb bit is at the end.

Well, if the GOP bigwigs are thinking that Jeb's their salvation, I'm happy to let them think so. However he may differ from Poppy & W, I like the Ds' odds even better if a Bush ends up being the GOP nominee. Now if they could find a VP nominee named Hoover...
I wouldn't scoff at this. There's a lot of money and power behind any Bush. And, with "citizens United," they can spend as much money as they want to take down Obama.
The real question is, behind all of the idiotic rhetoric about Obama being some kind of Socialist, he's actually been great for the Big Money boys and gals - the DOW's back up, and not one of the greedy motherfuckers is rotting in jail for a few decades - except Madoff.
That dumbass fool decided to ponzi scheme the rich. If that asshole had aimed a little lower, he'd still be free, enjoying the fruits of his ill-gotten grifting.
I wonder how many Republicans would be upset if the establishment overthrew the primary winner. Democracy is so inconvenient
There would certainly be lots of power & $$ behind any Bush, c u n d. But, the same can be said, and will be true, of anyone else they're likely to nominate, no? I may be wrong, but to me this Jeb notion sounds like the Hailest of Marys, as it were. If the big elephants are going to take control of the process & nominate someone who didn't run in the primaries, there are numerous possibilities who don't have that family-name baggage. I'd be more worried about either Christie or Daniels, for instance.
I still think, though, that as entertaining as all this speculation is, the nominee will end up being someone who did run in the primaries, likely Mitty. However flawed a candidate he is, I doubt the big elephants would risk dictating a different one & thus the chance of an open party rupture & an inflamed (and possibly well-funded) indy run on the (even further) right.
