Mitt Romney, preparing to do what he always does in response to criticism:

Does Mitt Romney's selection of Paul Ryan as his running mate mean that the former Massachusetts governor will embrace the Wisconsin congressman's budget plan?
Not exactly, according to a set of internal talking points produced by the Romney campaign and obtained by ABC News.
"Gov. Romney applauds Paul Ryan for going in the right direction with his budget," according to the talking points, "and as president he will be putting together his own plan for cutting the deficit and putting the budget on a path to balance."
The memo includes responses to anticipated Obama campaign attacks, key messages about Ryan as well as "questions and answers" about the Romney-Ryan ticket.
For example, "Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have different views on some policy areas -- like Medicare spending, entitlement reform, labor, etc..."
With regard to Ryan, he's about to do exactly what he did with regard to himself when he was criticized as a greedy CEO: after declaring that his record at Bain Capital was the reason you should vote for him, he got attacked, which led him to say, in effect, "How dare you make these personal attacks on me by bringing up my wealth and business record!" Or, in his exact words:
"[O]ur campaign would be -- helped immensely if we had an agreement between both campaigns that we were only going to talk about issues and that attacks based upon -- business or family or taxes or things of that nature."Now he's picked Ryan precisely because of Ryan's work on budget issues -- but as soon as the ticket is attacked because of Ryan's budget views, Romney's going to say, "How dare you hold me accountable for that budget! I'm the nominee! Judge us on my budget! Unfair! Unfair!"
Bain and the Ryan budget are selling points. They are not open for discussion. Praise them or shut up.

Ryan is Mitt's Dick Cheney - and now, Mitt, you're his, and the base's, Beeeeeyotch!
And Mitt doesn't yet have a Colin Powell or Condi Rice to try to intercede with his more powerful potential VP.
Mitt will soon enough be told to STFU, smile, read his lines and hit his marks like St. Ronnie did, and they'll they try to make a Reagan silk purse out of this Galtian sow's ear.

Mitt, who's been able to control his family, his business, and his legacy until recenty, has just gone through a take-over.
And Mitt, if they could outsource YOU, you'd be gone in a nano-second!

The obvious follow-up is "Well, what's the matter with the Ryan budget precisely? You say that Ryan's budget is 'in the right direction.' Does it not go far enough for you?"
